Achieving natural-looking hairlines is the goal for hair restoration specialists who strive to provide their patients with results indistinguishable from how they looked back in the day with a full head of hair. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, hair transplant surgery by a qualified and experienced board-certified plastic surgeon is typically safe. The procedure is becoming increasingly popular for men and women alike, making it more mainstream.
At Miami Hair Institute, we have gotten this process down to a science and have been creating some of the world’s most natural hairlines for over five decades. That’s 50 years of refinement and advancement as we hone our proven methods to deliver the desired results to our hairline restoration patients.
Whether you are from Miami or traveling from across the country and around the world for treatment at our state-of-the-art center, you can rest easy knowing that you will be tended to by leaders of the field utilizing the latest in hair restoration technology.
What is Hair Restoration?
The hair restoration process encompasses a variety of techniques and methods ranging from noninvasive to advanced surgical procedures. The different types of hair restoration methods all have one goal: to restore natural hairlines by promoting the growth of new hair on the scalp of the patient.
These treatments vary in the way they achieve this, from nonsurgical processes that stimulate the follicles to hair transplantation surgery that transfer healthy follicles in the areas of the scalp requiring hair growth. Different methods will be utilized depending on the requirements of the patient, the condition of their hairline, the severity of the hair loss, and the aesthetic goals they are looking for.
What Types of Hair Restoration Are Available at Miami Hair Institute
The hair restoration techniques utilized at Miami Hair Institute span nonsurgical methods and surgical procedures. Our surgical hair follicle harvesting methods include both strip hair harvesting and follicular unit extraction or FUE.
Depending on the results of our comprehensive patient evaluation process to assess the state of their hair and scalp health, our hair restoration specialist doctors will work together with patients to select the best course of treatment for them. The different types of hair restoration procedures at Miami Hair Institute include:
Strip Procedure
An extremely practical method to harvest hair follicles, during this procedure, patients do not need to shave the entire donor area, and a large quantity of grafts can be obtained in a short amount of time. Virtually undetectable donor site scars are achieved through our elegant surgical techniques, including a special closure method termed trichophytic closure that lets hair grow through the scar to minimize its appearance.
After the strip of skin with the donor follicles is removed, the strip is divided under microscopes into small follicular units that are then re-implanted into the recipient area, the balding or thinning area in need of thicker hair.
Hybrid FUE™
This method uses ARTAS robotic hair restoration with Manual FUE or Follicle Unit Extraction, where strategically placed zones of manual FUE harvesting are assisted by the ARTAS system’s digital optics and laser-guided robotics. The Miami Hair Institute is the world leader in robotic hair restoration, which has the advantage of superior precision.
Our expertise in robotic hair restoration is matched by our proficiency with some of the most advanced manual FUE instruments. Combined, these result in superior blending of the donor area for less visible scars, even with short haircuts. A lower quantity of follicles is needed thanks to the assisted harvesting process, although for this procedure, the patient needs to shave the entire donor area.
Manual FUE
With advanced manual FUE devices with rotation, oscillation, and vibration capabilities to aid in the successful removal of donor follicles, as well as other advanced technologies. With manual FUE at the Miami Hair Institute, our patients will be under the care of world leaders in hair restoration who will wield their considerable expertise and artistry to deliver natural-looking results. Our patients can rest assured that they are being tended to by leaders in the field of hair restoration with the proper credentials.
No-Shave FUE
For patients who prefer to have longer hairstyles or who wish to avoid shaving the donor area of their scalps, Miami Hair Institute offers a revolutionary procedure called No-Shave FUE that utilizes unique manual FUE devices that can precisely extract individual follicular units with long unshaven hair strands, which means that the donor area will be undetectable after you leave our clinic.
Patients will enjoy the benefits of undergoing FUE and have restored natural-looking hairlines without having to shave the donor areas. They can return to normal activities immediately without appearing like they have undergone hair transplantation.
Body Hair Transplants (BHT)
For patients with extensive baldness, donor hair from the scalp is combined with follicles obtained from other areas of the body, ranging from the underside of the beard or chest, hence the name Body Hair Transplant. BHT provides great coverage for patients with hair follicles harvested from across the body using a small needle-like instrument. Along with extensive baldness, this method can also be used to restore beards, mustaches, and eyebrows.
Low-Level Laser Light Therapy (LLLT)
Among the non-surgical hair restoration offered at Miami Hair Institute, low-level laser therapy for hair loss is a treatment for hair loss as well as a way to promote healing after surgical hair transplantation procedures. Our FDA-cleared Capillus MD is the most powerful laser device for thinning hair that will re-energize the scalp and follicles to create thicker, stronger, and more resilient hair.
This is also ideal for preparing hair for transplantation procedures as well as postoperative care. It is also a safe and clinically proven way to treat androgenic alopecia. This device can be used at home. Simply wear the cap for 6 minutes a day and let the 320 laser diodes do their work.
Platelet-Rich Plasma for Hair Loss (PRP)
PRP for hair loss is an increasingly popular treatment that is noninvasive and nonsurgical. It is also natural, as PRP is extracted from the blood of the patients themselves. Platelets are naturally occurring. They release growth factors and molecular signals to stimulate the growth of hair follicles and promote wound healing. PRP is distilled from the patient’s own blood and injected into the affected areas of the scalp to stimulate hair growth.
PRP is recommended both as a complement to other hair loss treatments as well as a hair loss therapy on its own, as it can be done twice a year with local anesthesia. Aside from a standalone hair loss treatment that has proven to be effective, when used to supplement hair transplant procedures, PRP improves the rate and percentage of transplanted follicle growth as well as postoperative healing.
